The Nepal government has announced a series of achievements in tourism and civil aviation during the first 100 days of Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s administration.
The updates were shared by government spokesperson and Education and Sports Minister Sasmit Pokhrel at a press conference.
A major achievement is the approval of flydubai’s regular flight schedule from Pokhara International Airport.
The airline will begin direct Pokhara-Dubai flights from September 2026. The new route is expected to boost international tourism and improve global connectivity through flydubai’s partnership with Emirates.
The government also said all airlines operating in Nepal now offer online ticket sales.
Officials said the digital system has made ticket booking easier, more transparent and accessible for passengers.
Mountaineering permit services are also being digitised.
Applications, permit issuance, revenue collection and related documents will now be processed online. Hotels, casinos and many other tourism services are also shifting to digital platforms.
The government has launched a National Wellness Tourism Strategy for 2026-2035, along with an action plan for 2026-2030.
The strategy aims to increase the share of wellness tourists to 11% of total international arrivals by 2030. It also plans to establish five integrated wellness centres across the country.
Nepal has merged the Nepal Tourism and Hotel Management Institute with the Nepal Mountain Training Institute to create a single tourism and mountain training body.
To improve air connectivity in the remote Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, the government has added new flights from Nepalgunj, Surkhet and Dhangadhi airports. Two electric buses have also been introduced to improve local transport.
The government also declared the Ramjankali Temple area a protected monument zone. Boundary demarcation work is now nearing completion.
