Bangladesh and Malaysia have explored a range of measures to strengthen bilateral tourism cooperation, with a focus on improving connectivity, visa facilitation, skills development and cultural exchanges to create richer travel experiences for people of both countries.
The issues were discussed at a meeting between State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M. Rashiduzzaman Millat and Malaysian Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Chiew Choon Man in Putrajaya on Tuesday, according to a press release received on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed increasing flight frequencies, facilitating visa processing and pre-verification, strengthening capacity building, and expanding cultural exchanges as part of efforts to deepen tourism cooperation.
They also exchanged views on sharing expertise, experiences and best practices in tourism development to broaden mutually beneficial collaboration between the two countries.
The two sides further discussed cooperation in training and skills development in the hospitality industry, with particular emphasis on increasing the recruitment of trained Bangladeshi personnel in Malaysia’s tourism service sector.
The meeting underscored the importance of closer cooperation in promoting tourism, enhancing people-to-people connectivity and creating greater opportunities for cultural exchange and mutual understanding.
The discussions also contributed to strengthening the longstanding bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Malaysia while identifying new areas for mutually beneficial cooperation.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to Malaysia Manjurul Karim Khan Chowdhury was present at the meeting.
Senior officials from Malaysia’s Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), Tourism Malaysia and the Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur also attended.
