NARSINGDI: Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan today called for building a humane and peaceful society by following the ideals of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).
The minister made the call during a visit to his parliamentary constituency in Palash, Narsingdi, where he attended a doa and discussion organised on the occasion of holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi (PBUH).
At the beginning of his visit, Moyeen Khan paid homage at the graves of his late father, BNP founding member and former minister Abdul Momen Khan, and mother Khorsheda Begum. He also offered prayers for the eternal peace of their departed souls.
Later, he attended the programme at the Palash Upazila Parishad Auditorium.
Speaking at the event, the minister said the life and teachings of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) are worthy of being followed by all humanity.
He said the Prophet’s teachings emphasised peace, justice, humanity and harmony.
Moyeen Khan urged people to shun division and hatred and work together to build a humane and peaceful society inspired by the ideals of the Holy Prophet.
Local public representatives, political leaders and activists, Islamic scholars and people from different walks of life attended the programme.
A special doa was offered at the end of the event, seeking peace, prosperity and the welfare of the country and its people.
