Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today expressed profound shock at the death of Mustafa Monwar, an Ekushey Padak-winning artist and cultural personality.
In a condolence message, the PM said Mustafa Monwar’s death caused a big vacuum in the country’s art and cultural arena that cannot be filled easily.
He said the nation will always remember his contributions with deep respect and Monwar’s work and ideals will continue to inspire the generations to come.
He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
Mustafa Monwar passed away this morning while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the capital aged 90.
He received the Ekushey Padak in 2004 for his contributions to fine arts.
