Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has advised US President Donald Trump to seek mental health treatment after Trump shared an image portraying the strategically important Strait of Hormuz as “new US territory.”
In a post on X on Friday, Araghchi said schizophrenia is a complex and severe mental disorder that can affect a person’s thinking and perception of reality. He noted that hallucinations and delusions are among its common symptoms and said people suffering from such conditions may require continuous monitoring and treatment.
Earlier, Trump posted a map identifying the Strait of Hormuz as US territory without providing any explanation.
His administration has continued to maintain pressure on Tehran despite US and Israeli military action against Iran.
Meanwhile, Iran has repeatedly said that reopening the Strait of Hormuz depends on the fulfillment of conditions set by Tehran. Tensions between the United States and Iran remain high over control and navigation of the waterway, which is one of the world’s most important routes for energy transportation.
