JHENAIDAH: Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman has said the government will decide whether Bangladesh will join the Mecca Pact after considering all relevant aspects.
He made the remarks today while responding to journalists after attending a reception for meritorious students of Jhenaidah Collectorate School and College as the chief guest.
Deputy Commissioner Md Noman Hossain presided over the programme, while Prime Minister’s Political Assistant Rashed Khan attended as the special guest.
Regarding India’s position on the matter, the law minister said India would pursue its own foreign policy, while Bangladesh would follow its own.
“India will move like India, and Bangladesh will move like Bangladesh,” he said.
On the country’s law and order situation, Asaduzzaman said the question was not whether the government was satisfied with the situation, but whether it was making continuous efforts to maintain normalcy.
He said the government and the Ministry of Law were also working to introduce an e-judiciary system to digitalise the country’s judicial process.
The government plans to implement the e-judiciary system within the next year, he added.
District BNP President M A Majid, General Secretary Zahiduzzaman Mona, Vice-President Munshi Kamal Azad Pannu, Joint General Secretary Abdul Majid Biswas and Shailkupa upazila BNP General Secretary Humayun Babar Firoz, among other BNP leaders and activists of affiliated organisations, attended the reception.
