Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 429 people in the capital over the past 24 hours as part of its regular anti-crime operations. During the period, 64 cases were filed.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Md Akter Hossain disclosed the information on Thursday (September 3).
Of those arrested, 22 were detained by the Ramna division, 22 by Lalbagh, 39 by Wari, 66 by Motijheel, 62 by Tejgaon, 144 by Mirpur, 35 by Gulshan, 39 by Uttara and two by the Detective Branch.
During the operations, police seized 822 yaba tablets, 19.185kg of cannabis and 88 bottles of Eskaf cough syrup.
Akter Hossain said the arrests were made during raids in various police station areas across the capital, during which drugs and other evidence were recovered.
Legal proceedings against the arrestees are underway, he added.
