US President Donald Trump has emphasized the need to protect and expand the country’s film industry as Hollywood faces growing competition from overseas production hubs.
Trump recently shared a photograph of his meeting with veteran Hollywood actor Jon Voight at the White House as his administration seeks to strengthen film and television production in the United States.
Fox News reported on Wednesday, September 2, that Voight visited the White House to discuss and support the US film and television industry.
Trump previously appointed Voight, along with Mel Gibson and Sylvester Stallone, as his special envoys to Hollywood. The appointments were intended to help revive the US entertainment industry and encourage more film and television production on American soil.
The latest meeting comes as Trump has sought to address the growing trend of Hollywood productions being filmed outside the United States.
In recent years, producers have increasingly turned to overseas locations, attracted by tax incentives, lower production costs and other financial benefits offered by foreign governments.
Trump has argued that the relocation of productions abroad has weakened the US entertainment industry and put American jobs at risk.
His administration has therefore been exploring ways to encourage studios to bring more productions back to the United States and strengthen the country’s position in the global entertainment industry.
Voight, a longtime Trump supporter, has been involved in discussions on the future of Hollywood and challenges facing the domestic film industry.
The administration’s efforts are part of Trump’s broader push to promote domestic production and investment while preserving the United States’ influence in one of its most important cultural and economic industries.
