Bangladeshi actress Badhon harassed in Italy

Bangladeshi actress Azmeri Haque Badhon has alleged that she was harassed and physically assaulted in Venice, Italy, while attending the Venice Film Festival. She has filed a complaint with the local police seeking legal action.

Badhon said in a video message posted on her verified Facebook page that a group of expatriate Bangladeshis targeted her while she was in the Mestre area of Venice on Monday night.

According to her account, the group threw water and rotten eggs at her and allegedly physically assaulted her.

She also claimed that her mobile phone was thrown away during the incident.

Badhon alleged that the incident was linked to her support for the July-August 2024 mass uprising in Bangladesh.

She said some individuals identifying themselves as Awami League and Bangladesh Chhatra League activists were involved in the incident.

Videos circulating on social media reportedly show some individuals calling Badhon a “July militant” and attempting to confront her.

Following the incident, Badhon approached the local police and lodged a formal complaint, according to reports.
