Bangladesh’s Under-20 women’s hockey team secured the top spot in the Challenger Pool of the 2026 Junior Asia Cup in Inner Mongolia, China, with a commanding 4-0 victory over Kazakhstan on Tuesday.
The win confirmed Bangladesh as group champions with one match still to play and secured their place in the tournament’s top six among the 10 participating teams.
Bangladesh dominated from the opening whistle, taking a 2-0 lead in the first quarter. Captain Sharika Rimon opened the scoring from a penalty corner in the third minute before Liza Akter doubled the advantage with a field goal in the 14th minute.
The Bangladesh attack continued to threaten after the break. Zakia Afroz Lima made it 3-0 with a field goal in the 46th minute, while Sharika completed the rout with her second goal from a penalty corner five minutes later.
A disciplined defence and clinical attack left Kazakhstan with few opportunities throughout the match.
Bangladesh had earlier defeated Chinese Taipei and Pakistan in their opening two matches. With three wins from three games, they remain unbeaten and have secured the top position in the Challenger Pool.
Bangladesh will face Hong Kong China in their final group-stage match on Wednesday at 7am Bangladesh time.
