Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized 1.4 million yaba tablets during an operation along the Teknaf border in Cox’s Bazar while they were allegedly being smuggled into Bangladesh from Myanmar.

Two suspected drug traffickers were arrested in connection with the seizure, according to local reports.

The operation was conducted by members of 64 BGB in the Teknaf border area. The consignment was reportedly being transported in a boat using a concealed method.

BGB personnel launched the operation after receiving intelligence about a large shipment of yaba being brought across the border.

The two suspects were taken into custody during the drive, while the seized drugs were brought under BGB control.

The latest seizure comes amid intensified anti-narcotics operations along the Cox’s Bazar border, particularly in Teknaf and Ukhiya, which are key routes for yaba trafficking from Myanmar.

Legal proceedings are expected to be initiated against the arrested suspects under the Narcotics Control Act.
