Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman arrived in Japan on Monday on a four-day official visit at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties and expand trade, investment and development cooperation.
The Prime Minister travelled aboard a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight with his wife, Dr Zubaida Rahman, and other members of his entourage.
The flight departed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka shortly after midnight and was scheduled to arrive at Narita International Airport at 9:25am local time.
During the visit, Tarique Rahman is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Takaichi on October 27 at the Japanese Prime Minister’s Office.
The meeting will be followed by a joint announcement and a luncheon hosted by the Japanese premier.
Discussions are expected to focus on trade and investment, infrastructure, development cooperation and the implementation of the Bangladesh-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).
The Prime Minister will also meet Japanese government officials, business leaders and representatives of development institutions, visit industrial and energy facilities, and deliver the keynote address at the Bangladesh-Japan Economic Forum.
The visit is expected to strengthen the two countries’ strategic partnership, attract Japanese investment and expand market access for Bangladeshi products.
