DUBAI, Sept 10: Bangladesh will take on India in the first semifinal of the 2026 Women’s Asia Cup at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium today, with a place in the final at stake.

Bangladesh secured their semifinal berth after defeating the United Arab Emirates by 34 runs in their final Group B match.

After being restricted to 103, Bangladesh’s bowlers produced an impressive performance to limit the UAE to 69 for nine.

Rabeya Khan claimed three wickets, while Marufa Akter and Nahida Akter took two each.

India, meanwhile, topped Group A with three wins from three matches and enter the knockout clash as favourites.

The Indian side has been in dominant form, including a convincing win over Pakistan, while Bangladesh finished second in Group B.

The match also revives memories of Bangladesh’s historic triumph over India in the 2018 Women’s Asia Cup final.

However, India have won the last two meetings between the sides in the tournament, including the 2024 semifinal.

Bangladesh batter Sharmin Akhter Supta said her team would approach the match without pressure, stressing that playing against top sides is essential for a team aspiring to become champions.

The second semifinal will see defending champions Sri Lanka face Pakistan on Friday, with the final scheduled for September 13.
