Bangladesh urges India to stop fugitives from creating instability

Bangladesh has urged Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi to ensure that fugitives and court-convicted individuals staying in India do not attempt to create instability in Bangladesh.

Prime Minister’s Adviser and PM’s Office spokesperson Mahdi Amin made the request during a courtesy meeting with Trivedi at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon on Thursday morning.

The meeting discussed the overall development of Bangladesh-India relations and ways to strengthen people-to-people contacts between the two countries. Indian Deputy High Commissioner Pawan Badhe was also present.

The two sides stressed the importance of further strengthening democratic environments and values in both countries.

They also agreed to take bilateral relations to a sustainable and dignified level based on mutual respect, equality, fairness and justice. They discussed resolving existing problems and challenges through dialogue and cooperation.

During discussions on the multifaceted bilateral relationship, emphasis was placed on strengthening cooperation in education, health, sports, culture and tourism.

The two sides also discussed expanding business, trade and investment ties.

Highlighting the vast potential of information technology and innovation, they expressed interest in expanding cooperation in science and technology and other promising areas.
