Egypt lead Argentina 1-0 at halftime in their FIFA World Cup Round of 16 clash in Atlanta.
The breakthrough came in the 15th minute when Yasser Ibrahim powered home a header to put Egypt ahead.
Argentina have dominated possession for much of the first half but have found it difficult to break down Egypt’s disciplined and well-organized defense. Their best chance to equalize came from the penalty spot, but Lionel Messi failed to convert, leaving the reigning champions trailing at the break.
Egypt head into the second half with a slender one-goal advantage, while Argentina face an uphill battle to keep their World Cup campaign alive.
