Government employees who use other people to lobby officials on their behalf over job-related matters will face departmental action, the Cabinet Division has directed.
In a letter issued on Thursday, the Cabinet Division instructed senior secretaries, secretaries, divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners and upazila nirbahi officers to take action against such employees.
The letter said lobbying on behalf of a government employee violates Rule 20 of the Government Servants (Conduct) Rules, 1979, and constitutes misconduct under Rule 2(b) of the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018.
Details of any such lobbying must also be recorded in the employee’s service dossier.
However, employees may submit job-related applications through the proper authorities to their controlling ministry, department or authority.
Such applications should be disposed of within a maximum of one month, the directive said.
