DHAKA: A total of 564 people were arrested in the capital during regular operations by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) over the past 24 hours till Friday morning. During the same period, 58 cases were filed.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Md. Akter Hossain provided the information on September 18.
He said the arrests were made during operations conducted in different police station areas across the capital, during which various evidence and narcotics were also recovered. Legal proceedings against the detainees are underway.
Akter Hossain said the arrests included 26 by the Ramna Division, 40 by Lalbagh Division, 79 by Wari Division, 77 by Motijheel Division, 114 by Tejgaon Division, 153 by Mirpur Division, 36 by Gulshan Division, 35 by Uttara Division and four by the Detective Branch.
During the operations, police recovered 2,194 yaba tablets, 3 kg 715 grams of cannabis, 62 grams of heroin, six mobile phones, seven pairs of stolen shoes, 200.15 grams of gold ornaments and 1,000 pieces of colored paper.
