Kushtia: A retired army personnel was killed in a road accident in Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Khandaker Ehsan Habib, 60, son of late Khandaker Hasmat Ali of Hakimpur village in the upazila.
Citing locals, police said Ehsan Habib was travelling by motorcycle from Daulatpur towards the Upazila Parishad on Tuesday afternoon.
At around 2:30pm, when he reached in front of the Ansar-VDP Bank, his motorcycle collided with a battery-run three-wheeler locally known as a “Pakhi van”.
He fell onto the road and sustained critical injuries after being hit by a trolley coming from behind.
Locals rescued him and rushed him to Daulatpur Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead after examination.
Khaledur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Daulatpur Police Station, said necessary legal action was being taken in connection with the accident.
