7 killed as bus hits auto-rickshaw in Mymensingh

Seven passengers of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw were killed after a bus hit the vehicle in Mymensingh city on Friday afternoon.

The road accident occurred in the Gondrapa area of Akua Bypass around 1:30pm, said Mohammad Shibirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Model Police Station.

According to police and local sources, a Rajib Paribahan bus travelling from Jamalpur to Dhaka reached the Gondrapa area around 1:30pm when the driver reportedly lost control and the bus ran over a moving auto-rickshaw.

All seven passengers of the auto-rickshaw were killed in the accident.

Local residents rushed to the scene and began rescue efforts following the crash. Police also arrived after being informed.

Traffic on the road was disrupted for some time because of the accident.

The identities of the victims could not be confirmed immediately. Police said efforts were underway to identify them.
