Prime Minister Tarique Rahman attended a welcome breakfast hosted by UN Secretary-General António Guterres at the United Nations headquarters in New York on Tuesday morning.
The breakfast was arranged for world leaders and their spouses on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly. The prime minister was accompanied by his wife, Dr Zubaida Rahman.
The event marked the beginning of the prime minister’s official engagements at the UN General Assembly, where he is attending as part of his visit to New York.
Following the breakfast, Tarique Rahman was scheduled to join the opening session of the 81st UN General Assembly alongside other world leaders.
His programme also includes bilateral meetings with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, World Bank President Ajay Banga and Haitian Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé.
The prime minister is scheduled to address the UN General Assembly on September 24, delivering his first speech at the UNGA as prime minister.
