PM to attend DMC’s 80th anniversary

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will visit Dhaka Medical College (DMC) and Hospital on Saturday (July 11) to attend celebrations marking the institution’s 80th anniversary.

During the visit, he will lay the foundation stone for two female dormitories under the Directorate General of Medical Education’s 20-Hostel Project, plant a tree and attend a discussion programme.

His wife, Dr Zubaida Rahman, a DMC alumna, will also attend the event.

The visit has sparked enthusiasm across the campus, with current and former students describing it as a homecoming and expressing hope that it will help address the institution’s longstanding challenges.

Dr Rafiqul Islam, BNP’s Health Affairs Secretary and former organising secretary of the Dhaka Medical College unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, said the prime minister’s visit to his alma mater on its anniversary would be a proud and memorable occasion for the entire DMC community.
