    Red Carpet Reception for Prime Minister in Beijing

    BEIJING: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman arrived at Chaoyang Railway Station in Beijing at 5:35 PM (local time) on Wednesday (June 24) via a high-speed (bullet) train from Dalian.

    Upon his arrival, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and his spouse were accorded a red carpet reception and a guard of honor at the railway station. Following the ceremony, the Prime Minister was escorted by a ceremonial motorcade to the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing, where he and his entourage will be staying during their visit. Earlier, the Prime Minister departed from Dalian North Railway Station via high-speed train at 1:58 PM local time.

    Prior to his departure, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman participated in the annual ‘Summer Davos’ conference organized by the World Economic Forum (WEF) at the Dalian International Conference Center in China at 10:00 AM local time.

    The 17th Annual Meeting of the New Champions was attended by the Prime Ministers of Bangladesh, Guinea (Amadou Oury Bah), Kazakhstan (Olzhas Bektenov), South Korea (Kim Min-seok), Mongolia (Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene), and Montenegro (Milojko Spajić).

    The event brought together over 1,700 participants—including political leaders, business figures, academics, and media representatives—from more than 90 countries and regions. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s participation in the ‘Summer Davos’ is expected to open new avenues for investment and employment in Bangladesh, while also strengthening national capabilities by adopting best practices and experiences from other nations. He arrived in Dalian, China, last Monday (June 22, 2026).

    Kazakh Prime Minister Calls on Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman

    DHAKA: Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov paid a courtesy call to the Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Tarique Rahman, on Wednesday.

    The meeting took place on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) “Summer Davos” in China at 10:15 AM (local time).

    During the meeting, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman emphasized the necessity of strengthening bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Kazakhstan. Both leaders agreed on establishing permanent diplomatic missions in their respective capitals—Dhaka and Astana—to further bolster these ties.

    They also underscored the importance of regular bilateral discussions to enhance political, business, and people-to-people connectivity.

    Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov expressed optimism regarding the prospects of increased trade and investment between the two nations.

    The discussion also covered various economic avenues, including the potential for exporting skilled Bangladeshi workers to Kazakhstan, as well as collaboration in renewable energy, digital infrastructure, technology, agribusiness, and food processing sectors.

    Furthermore, Prime Minister Bektenov sought Bangladesh’s support for Kazakhstan’s proposal to establish a specialized United Nations agency focused on “Water Diplomacy.” Prime Minister Tarique Rahman conveyed Bangladesh’s support for the initiative.

    Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman, Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Humayun Kabir, and Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon were present at the meeting.
