Police took position in Dhaka’s Science Lab area on Sunday amid a planned protest by students of Dhaka Central University against the appointment of a new vice-chancellor.
Students from the university’s seven campuses were scheduled to hold a sit-in and demonstration at the Science Lab intersection from 10am to protest the appointment.
However, no Central University students were seen at the intersection at the scheduled time.
A police officer said law enforcers had been deployed in the Science Lab area in connection with the students’ programme, adding that the situation remained normal.
Meanwhile, students from Dhaka College reportedly marched to the Science Lab intersection and took position there.
