Five Israeli opposition leaders have agreed to coordinate their efforts ahead of the October 27 Knesset election, making the replacement of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government their shared main objective.

The leaders met at the Tel Aviv home of Yair Lapid, according to Israel’s Channel 12.

The meeting brought together Yair Lapid of Yesh Atid, Gadi Eisenkot of Yashar, Naftali Bennett of Together, Avigdor Lieberman of Yisrael Beiteinu and Yair Golan of the Democrats.

Following the meeting, the five leaders issued a joint document pledging not to campaign against one another before a new government is formed. They also agreed to work together to increase voter turnout and strengthen support for the opposition bloc.

The agreement also calls for joint working groups to coordinate election preparations, develop principles for a possible future government and manage media efforts.

However, the leaders did not agree on a single candidate for prime minister.

Netanyahu responded on social media, accusing Eisenkot of seeking to form a government with the other opposition leaders and Arab parties. He called on voters to support his Likud party, saying only a strong Likud could stop them. He also posted an AI-altered version of the opposition leaders’ group photo that included Arab politicians Mansour Abbas and Ahmad Tibi.

Israel’s general election is scheduled for October 27.
