30 September 2026 14:23 Updated: 30 September 2026 14:23

The submission of the investigation report in the murder case of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi has been deferred again, with the investigating agency receiving its 130th deadline.

A Dhaka metropolitan magistrate’s court has set November 5 as the new date for submitting the report.

The report was scheduled to be submitted on Wednesday, but the investigating agency failed to do so, prompting the court to set another date.

Rafiqul Islam, a police sub-inspector and officer of the general registration branch of the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station court, confirmed the matter to BSS.

Sagar Sarowar, news editor of Maasranga Television, and Meherun Runi, a senior reporter at ATN Bangla, were murdered at their rented apartment in West Rajabazar, Dhaka, on February 11, 2012.

Later, Runi’s brother Nausher Alam Roman filed a murder case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station.

On September 30, 2024, the High Court removed the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) from the investigation and directed a high-powered task force formed through the Home Ministry to investigate the case.
