4 more children die with measles symptoms

Four more children have died with suspected measles symptoms across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of deaths from confirmed measles and measles-like symptoms to 1,108 since March 15.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the figures in a press release issued by its control room on Wednesday.

According to the release, 1,221 suspected measles cases were reported in the latest 24-hour period, taking the total number of suspected cases since March 15 to 191,731.

Another 128 confirmed measles cases were reported during the period, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed cases to 21,520.

Between March 15 and September 30, a total of 169,800 patients with suspected measles were admitted to hospitals, while 162,873 patients recovered and were discharged.

The four latest deaths were among suspected measles cases, taking the total number of deaths from suspected measles to 1,007 since March 15.

No new deaths from confirmed measles were reported in the past 24 hours. The number of deaths from confirmed measles remains at 101 since March 15.
