Gulistan-Fulbaria bus terminal to move to Chunkutia

The Gulistan-Fulbaria inter-district bus terminal will be relocated to Chunkutia in Keraniganj within three months as part of a government initiative to ease chronic traffic congestion in Dhaka, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed said on Saturday.

The move is part of a broader plan to separate bus terminals from depots and reduce congestion around major bus terminals in the capital.

Meanwhile, leaders of the bus owners’ association visited a newly allocated site at Mohakhali bus terminal on Saturday. Authorities later handed over space capable of accommodating around 80 buses.

Representatives of the bus owners’ association said the government was giving priority to addressing traffic congestion around bus terminals in Dhaka.

Speaking during the visit, the DMP commissioner said authorities were working to separate bus depots from passenger terminals.

“Mohakhali terminal will remain at its existing location, but its depot will be shifted to Purbachal,” he said.
