Before joining the discussion, the prime minister planted a sapling of a golden champa tree on the conference centre premises.

In a message marking the day, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said the government was committed to ensuring safe, affordable, environmentally friendly and dignified housing for all, alongside planned, inclusive and sustainable urbanisation.
