Prime Minister Tarique Rahman attended a discussion meeting in Dhaka on Monday marking World Habitat Day 2026.
The programme, organised by the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, was held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre under the theme “Adequate Housing for All, Sustainable Urbanisation.”
Before joining the discussion, the prime minister planted a sapling of a golden champa tree on the conference centre premises.
Housing and Public Works Minister Zakaria Taher Sumon, State Minister Ahmed Sohel Manzur and ministry secretary Md Obaidur Rahman, among other senior officials, were present.
In a message marking the day, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said the government was committed to ensuring safe, affordable, environmentally friendly and dignified housing for all, alongside planned, inclusive and sustainable urbanisation.
World Habitat Day is observed on the first Monday of October every year to raise awareness about adequate housing and sustainable cities.
