Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and Leader of the Opposition Dr Shafiqur Rahman left Dhaka for Istanbul on Wednesday to attend an international conference on Bangladesh studies.
He will attend the Second International Conference on Bangladesh Studies at Istanbul University as the chief guest on October 8.
The conference is being jointly organised by Istanbul University and the Centre for Policy and Social Research (CPSR).
The conference will focus on “Multidimensional Perspectives on Reforms in Bangladesh 2.0 and New Horizons of Turkey-Bangladesh Cooperation.” Academics, policymakers, diplomats, researchers and representatives of various organisations from Bangladesh, Türkiye and other countries are expected to attend.
Shafiqur Rahman is scheduled to stay in Istanbul for four days.
After the conference, he will travel to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah and is expected to return to Bangladesh on the morning of October 11.
