The government has declared November 7 a public holiday every year to observe National Revolution and Solidarity Day.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification to this effect on Wednesday (October 7).

According to the notification, the decision was taken following the Cabinet’s approval at its meeting on October 5.

The holiday was declared under serial 37 of the section of the Ministry of Public Administration in Schedule I of the Rules of Business, 1996, which outlines the allocation of functions among ministries and divisions.

At the Cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on October 5, a proposal to declare November 7 a public holiday was approved.

The Cabinet also decided to observe the day as a ‘Class A’ national day under the Cabinet Division’s circular on the observance of national and international days.
