A nationwide campaign promoting smaller families will begin on December 1, with the slogan, “No more than two children, one is better.”
The campaign will seek to raise awareness about family planning and encourage couples to limit the number of children they have, according to the report published by Samakal.
The initiative is part of the government’s population and family-planning efforts. Bangladesh’s population policy also includes the same slogan as a behavioural-change and family-planning message.
The campaign is expected to highlight the benefits of planned families, including better access to education, healthcare and social security for children and parents.
The Directorate General of Family Planning is responsible for implementing family-planning programmes nationwide.
