At least one Palestinian has been killed or injured every 90 minutes in Israeli attacks on Gaza despite a ceasefire, according to a report released by UK-based humanitarian organisation Islamic Relief on Thursday.

The organisation said at least 1,454 Palestinians had been killed and more than 5,000 injured over the past year, including at least 320 children — an average of nearly one child killed every day.

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, Israeli attacks since the ceasefire took effect have killed 1,471 Palestinians and wounded 5,189 others. Four people were killed and 28 injured in the past 24 hours alone. The ministry put the total Palestinian death toll since October 2023 at 74,254.

On Thursday, an Israeli attack killed a Palestinian in southeastern Deir al-Balah, while an airstrike on a house in Khan Younis wounded several people, Palestinian news agency Wafa reported.

Islamic Relief said around 65% of Gaza’s territory had been cleared of Palestinians under restrictions associated with the Israeli-controlled “Yellow Line”, forcing much of the population into the remaining 35% of the territory.

The organisation also warned that restrictions on shelter materials, fuel and medical supplies were worsening the humanitarian crisis. It said around 82% of Gaza’s infrastructure had been damaged or destroyed, more than half of healthcare services were out of operation, and over 20,000 seriously ill patients were unable to leave Gaza for treatment.

Islamic Relief urged world leaders to take stronger action to protect civilians, uphold international law and ensure humanitarian aid reaches those in need, stressing that a ceasefire must bring an end to the suffering on the ground.
