Three bKash workers shot, Tk 3cr looted in Sreepur

Miscreants allegedly looted around Tk 3 crore after opening fire on bKash agent employees in Sreepur, Gazipur, on Friday evening, leaving four people injured.

The incident took place around 6:30pm in the Karnapur area on the Sreepur-Gosinga regional road.

According to the injured employees, they were returning to Mawna from Narsingdi in a private car carrying Tk 4 crore collected from bKash agents. The money was kept in three bags.

Upon reaching Karnapur, a group of armed men on motorcycles intercepted their vehicle, smashed its windows and opened fire, hitting cash manager Himel in the abdomen.

The attackers also assaulted the other employees and the driver before fleeing with two bags of cash containing an estimated Tk 3 crore.

The injured were initially taken to Sreepur Upazila Health Complex, where Himel was given emergency treatment before being transferred to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital in Gazipur for advanced care. His condition was reported to be critical.

Sreepur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shahinur Alam said police had begun investigating the incident and that legal action was being initiated.
