DHAKA: The National Citizen Party (NCP) has condemned a deadly attack at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Twelve people, including two Bangladeshis, were killed and more than 300 others injured in the attack. Reports that some of the victims may have been pilgrims travelling for religious purposes have also raised deep concerns.
In a statement issued on Sunday (October 11), the NCP expressed profound condolences to the bereaved families and solidarity with the government and people of Saudi Arabia.
The statement called on the governments of Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia to ensure urgent assistance for affected Bangladeshis, repatriate the bodies of the deceased and provide necessary support to all stranded passengers, including Umrah pilgrims, affected by disruptions to air travel.
The NCP also reiterated its call for ensuring the safety and security of civilians, religious pilgrims and civilian infrastructure, respecting international law, and taking urgent diplomatic initiatives to ease regional tensions.
