Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 82 runs in the second T20 International in Rawalpindi on Sunday, securing the three-match series with a game to spare.

After losing the toss and being sent in to bat, Pakistan posted 215 for three in 20 overs, powered by Sahibzada Farhan and Maaz Sadaqat. In reply, Sri Lanka managed 133 for seven in their allotted 20 overs.

The victory marked Pakistan’s biggest win by runs against Sri Lanka in T20 internationals.

Farhan scored 73 off 44 balls, hitting four fours and five sixes, while Sadaqat narrowly missed a century with a blistering 96 off 51 deliveries, featuring six fours and seven sixes.

Farhan and Sadaqat added 88 runs off 49 balls to put Pakistan in control. Sadaqat continued his assault after Farhan’s dismissal, helping the hosts cross the 200-run mark. Hasan Nawaz contributed 19 off nine balls, and Pakistan plundered 84 runs in the final six overs.

Chasing 216, Sri Lanka struggled from the outset, reaching only 35 for two in the powerplay. Lahiru Udara, who scored 91 in the first match, managed just five runs this time.

Pacer Mohammad Imran led Pakistan’s bowling attack, taking three wickets for just 11 runs in four overs. He dismissed Sineth Jayawardena, Kusal Mendis and Sahan Arachchige, leaving Sri Lanka reeling at 74 for six.

Chamindu Wickramasinghe scored 29, while Theekshana remained unbeaten on 32, but their efforts were insufficient to prevent a heavy defeat.

With the win, Pakistan took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. The third and final match will be played at the same venue on Tuesday.
