Garment workers blocked a section of the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Azampur, Uttara, on Wednesday, bringing traffic to a standstill on one side of the busy road and triggering severe congestion on nearby streets.
The workers began their protest around 11am on October 14, demanding higher wages.
According to the workers, employees from several garment factories gathered in the Azampur area in the morning before taking to the highway to press their demand.
The blockade halted traffic on one side of the highway, while the resulting congestion spread to surrounding roads, causing significant inconvenience to commuters.
