A total of 100 flights from Dhaka to Saudi Arabia have been cancelled or suspended, affecting 15,393 passengers amid disruptions to air travel following attacks by Houthi rebels on Saudi airports.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) confirmed the figures on Wednesday, October 14, saying the cancellations involved 41 direct flights and 59 transit flights.
Of the direct flights, 17 were operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, 10 by US-Bangla Airlines, seven by Saudia and seven by Riyadh Air.
The affected transit services included 22 flights operated by IndiGo, 14 by Emirates, seven each by Qatar Airways and SalamAir, six by flydubai, two by Air India and one by EgyptAir.
The disruptions have left thousands of passengers facing uncertainty over their travel plans, particularly Bangladeshi migrant workers whose visa validity is nearing expiry.
Airlines have been adjusting their operations in response to security concerns and restrictions affecting Saudi airports.
Some carriers have been exploring alternative airports to help passengers reach their destinations.
CAAB officials said flight cancellations could continue if the situation does not return to normal.
The authorities and airlines are working to manage the disruption and facilitate passengers’ journeys amid the ongoing uncertainty. citeturn206005search0turn206005search1turn206005search2
