BNP Standing Committee member and Prime Minister’s Political Adviser Mirza Abbas returned to Bangladesh on Wednesday night after receiving medical treatment in Malaysia for nearly a month.
He arrived in Dhaka on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at around 9pm, accompanied by his wife, Afroza Abbas, and son, Mirza Yasir Abbas, according to his assistant private secretary, Mizanur Rahman Sohel.
“He has returned after completing his treatment and is now much better,” Sohel said.
Mirza Abbas travelled to Malaysia on September 16 for follow-up treatment at Prince Court Medical Centre.
Earlier, he had spent nearly five months receiving treatment in Singapore and Malaysia after suffering a brain haemorrhage in March.
He was initially admitted to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka before being airlifted to Singapore for specialised treatment.
He was later transferred to Malaysia for further care and rehabilitation.
He returned to Bangladesh on September 2 after completing that extended course of treatment, but travelled to Malaysia again later that month for follow-up medical care.
Mirza Abbas is a BNP Standing Committee member and a member of parliament for the Dhaka-8 constituency.
