Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 481 people in raids across the capital over the past 24 hours and filed 40 cases, recovering drugs and other items, including 10,145 yaba tablets.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Md Akter Hossain disclosed the information on Saturday, October 17.
Of the arrests, the Mirpur division recorded the highest number at 131, followed by Wari with 74, Tejgaon 72, Motijheel 58, Gulshan 37, Uttara 38, Lalbagh 40 and Ramna 29. Two people were arrested by the Detective Branch.
During the drives, police seized 10,145 yaba tablets, 6.17 grams of heroin, 500 grams of copper wire, 1,000 soap bars and three mobile phones.
According to the DMP, the arrests and seizures were made during operations in different police station areas across the capital.
Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway.
