Liton ruled out of tri-series opener with injury

Bangladesh’s newly appointed full-time ODI captain Liton Das has been ruled out of the opening match of the tri-nation series against Zimbabwe and Afghanistan due to an injury.

Bangladesh are facing Zimbabwe in the opening match on Saturday, with Towhid Hridoy stepping in to lead the side at the toss.

“Liton has an injury problem,” Hridoy said at the toss.

Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza won the toss and elected to bat first, sending Bangladesh in to bowl.

Bangladesh have included three opening options in the playing XI in Liton’s absence — Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Saif Hassan and Soumya Sarkar. The batting lineup also features Najmul Hossain Shanto, Nurul Hasan Sohan and Mosaddek Hossain Saikat.

Rishad Hossain will lead the spin attack, supported by three pacers — Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam.
