Police will submit the chargesheet in the high-profile murder case of Ishiat Shahriar Oprotim this week, Cumilla Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Anisuzzaman said on Saturday evening.
The SP disclosed the information at a press conference on the murder of Jubo Dal leader Kawsar, but did not specify an exact date for filing the chargesheet.
Providing an update on the investigation into Kawsar’s murder, Anisuzzaman said police had arrested two people so far, including prime suspect Towhid.
Towhid faces seven cases, including the murder case, while another arrestee, Tanzir, is named in one case, the SP said.
According to the police official, the killing stemmed from a dispute over a piece of land owned by the Bangladesh Water Development Board, located opposite Chhatrokhil Model Mosque in Cumilla Sadar upazila.
Police operations are ongoing to arrest other suspects allegedly involved in the killing, he added.
