The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested Sohag Fakir, an assistant director at the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC), in connection with the leak of questions for the Department of Youth Development’s recruitment examination.
He was arrested in Badarpasha under Rajoir Police Station in Madaripur on Tuesday night, October 20.
A senior official of the CID’s Cyber Police unit confirmed the arrest, saying investigators had found evidence of Fakir’s alleged involvement in the case. Rajoir police assisted in the operation.
Two smartphones were seized from him during the arrest.
He was being brought to Dhaka for further investigation, according to the official.
The question leak came to light before the recruitment examination for assistant upazila youth development officer posts, scheduled for October 10, prompting authorities to suspend the test.
The incident sparked protests by jobseekers.
Earlier, the Special Response Battalion (SRB) arrested seven people, including government employees, over the leak.
Investigators said the group allegedly circulated the question paper and answers among members and candidates.
The CID is investigating Fakir’s alleged role in the case.
