The United States will host the inaugural FIFA Women’s Club World Cup from January 5 to 30, 2028, FIFA has announced.

The tournament will feature 19 clubs from the six continental confederations, marking the launch of a new global competition for women’s club football.

Seven clubs have already qualified for the inaugural edition: Arsenal Women, Barcelona Femení, Club América Femenil, Gotham FC, Naegohyang Women’s FC, SC Corinthians and Wuhan Jiangda WFC.

The remaining 12 places will be allocated under FIFA’s qualification criteria, with representation from all six continental confederations.

Europe will receive six places, while Asia, Africa, North and Central America and the Caribbean, and South America will each have three. Oceania will have one representative.

FIFA said the tournament was part of its efforts to promote women’s football and provide leading clubs with a platform to compete internationally.

The United States was selected as host following its experience in staging major football events, including the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

The country is also co-hosting the 2026 men’s World Cup with Canada and Mexico.

The host cities and venues for the inaugural Women’s Club World Cup have yet to be announced.
