Chaos erupted at a concert featuring popular Bangladeshi rock star James at Jamuna Future Park in the capital on Friday evening after security barriers broke, allowing thousands of people to enter the venue uncontrollably.

The incident took place at the Carnival Arena during the ‘Rock N Rhythm 5.0: No Limits in the Zone’ concert, shortly before James and his band Nagar Baul were scheduled to perform.

Fans had started gathering outside the venue from noon, and the arena became increasingly crowded as evening approached.

As James was about to take the stage, the security barriers broke, allowing thousands of people to rush into the concert area.

The uncontrolled entry created a chaotic situation, causing considerable inconvenience to spectators who had purchased tickets to attend the event.

Many ticket-holders expressed dissatisfaction over the overcrowding and disorder, saying they could not enjoy the concert in an orderly environment despite paying for tickets.

As the situation became difficult to control, the organisers were forced to open the main gates, further fuelling frustration among paying spectators.

The concert featured several prominent Bangladeshi bands and musicians, including Nagar Baul’s James, ARK’s Hasan, Warfaze, Aurthohin, Shunno and AK Rahul.

One of the major attractions was guitarist and musician Oni Hasan’s performance with Warfaze, marking their first stage appearance together in 12 years.

The event was organised by Adventor Communications as the fifth edition of the Rock N Rhythm concert series.
