A group of unidentified assailants opened fire at Sandhani Clinic and vandalised parts of the facility in Khulna city on Saturday night, triggering panic among patients, their relatives and staff.
The incident occurred at around 9:45pm on October 24 on Babukhan Road in the jurisdiction of Khulna Sadar Police Station. No casualties were reported.
According to eyewitnesses, seven to eight assailants arrived on motorcycles and fired several shots outside the clinic before entering the premises and vandalising the chamber of Professor Dr Md Kutub Uddin Mallik and the reception area.
The attackers fled the scene after the incident.
Officer-in-Charge of Khulna Sadar Police Station Lokman Hossain confirmed the incident, saying the assailants fired at the clinic from the road.
Police are investigating the incident to identify those involved, he added.
