The BNP and its alliance have nominated Eliza Zaman for the by-election to a vacant reserved seat for women in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad.
BNP Media Cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan confirmed the nomination.
Eliza Zaman is a member of the BNP’s central executive committee and joint convener of the Pirojpur district unit. She also serves as organising secretary for the Barishal division of the Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal’s central committee.
The seat fell vacant on October 1 after BNP lawmaker Ferdousi Ahmed Misty resigned.
According to the announced election schedule, Monday (October 26) is the deadline for submitting nomination papers. The nominations will be scrutinised on October 27, with appeals against the scrutiny decisions to be filed on October 28 and settled on October 29.
The deadline for withdrawing candidacy is November 1, while electoral symbols will be allocated on November 2. Voting is scheduled for November 12.
However, if only one candidate remains valid after scrutiny and withdrawal, she will be declared elected unopposed.
