Karnataka’s final electoral roll, published on Tuesday, has left out nearly one crore names following a voter-list revision, amid protests and controversy over the exercise.
The state had 5.54 crore registered voters before the revision. More than 1.07 crore names were excluded from the draft roll, while 8.64 lakh voters were added during the claims and objections process.
The final list contains around 4.54 crore voters, according to reports.
The revised electoral rolls are available constituency-wise on the website of Karnataka’s Chief Electoral Officer. Voters can also check their registration details through the Election Commission of India’s voter-search portal.
To check their names, voters can select the “Search by EPIC” option, enter their Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) number and choose Karnataka as their state. After completing the captcha verification, they can click “Search” to view their details.
However, a “No Result Found” message does not necessarily confirm that a voter’s name has been deleted. Voters should cross-check the official electoral roll and contact election officials if necessary.
The final roll includes more than 2.25 crore male voters, over 2.29 crore female voters and 2,841 third-gender voters.
The revision has drawn criticism amid concerns that eligible voters could be left off the rolls. The Election Commission has said voters can seek inclusion or correction of their details through the prescribed procedures.
