Medical examinations for Bangladeshi workers seeking employment in Malaysia will begin at authorised medical centres on October 31, 2026, the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment announced on Wednesday.
The ministry said medical tests conducted before the specified date would not be accepted or processed for immigration clearance.
A list of approved medical centres will be published on the ministry’s website shortly. Workers have been advised to check the list regularly, as centres may be removed or added depending on their compliance with official instructions and operational capacity.
No medical centre or recruiting agency will be allowed to arrange medical examinations without the ministry’s official approval and authorisation.
The ministry said it had received reports that some brokers and unscrupulous agencies were attempting to collect passports and money from workers by promising to arrange medical tests without proper authorisation.
Workers have been urged not to respond to such offers or hand over their passports or money before verifying that the relevant service provider is officially authorised.
Until further notice, agencies applying for clearance from the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) must submit the required documents, including Visa with Reference (VDR) visa papers, for examinations at approved medical centres.
The ministry warned that medical centres and recruiting agencies violating the instructions would face legal action under existing laws and regulations.
Penalties could include suspension of medical centre operations, suspension of overseas recruitment activities by agencies and cancellation of ministry approval.
Workers and others with information about unauthorised medical examinations have been asked to report the incidents to the ministry, providing the date, location, names of the individuals or organisations involved and supporting evidence.
Complaints can be sent to [email protected].
The ministry said monitoring would continue to prevent irregularities and protect the safety and interests of workers. It also urged all workers, recruiting agencies and medical centres to comply with the official instructions.
