SIRAJGANJ: A group of activists from the banned Jubo League (JL) staged a flash march on the Jamuna Bridge West–Sirajganj highway early Wednesday.
A video of the march began circulating on Facebook around noon. The 1-minute-and-44-second footage shows several people at the front of the procession holding a banner bearing the name of Jubo League leader Ekramul Haque.
At least 35 to 40 leaders and activists took part in the march, chanting various slogans, including “Sheikh Hasina will return.”
The video also shows a police patrol vehicle approaching the procession. However, amid loud shouts from the participants, the police vehicle passes the march and drives away.
Talking to the media, Amirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Jamuna Bridge West Police Station, said, “I have just watched the video of the march. However, it is not possible to determine exactly where on the highway the procession took place. We are looking into the matter and trying to identify those who took part in the march.”
